Canadian Kim Clavel won by unanimous decision against Mexican Anabel Ortiz in a fight held at the Montreal Casino in Canada, on February 27, winning the WBC International strawweight title.
Clavel pressured Ortiz from the very beginning of the fight, connecting effectively. Anabel did a good job during the fight, clocking up some rounds, but not enough to defeat the Canadian.
An accidental headbutt caused cuts on both fighters during the seventh round with 10 seconds left in the round.
The Judges saw Clavel win with a unanimous decision with scores of 96-94, 98-92 and 98-92.
Clavel finished this fight with 21 wins and two losses, while Ortiz fell to 34 wins and eight losses.
The Montreal maiden lost her WBC World light-flyweight to Yesica Nery Plata in 2023, and is now aiming a bid at the WBC minimumweight belt.
