Unified lightweight female champion, Katie Taylor, is itching for an immediate rematch with rival Delfine Persoon, stressing that she was not entirely satisfied with her performance against the Belgian.
Both fought a marvelous fight at Madison Square Garden in New York, leaving Irish sensation Taylor as the winner by a close majority decision with scores of 96-94, 96-94 and 95-95.
Many spectators thought that the the long-reigning WBC titlist Persoon defeated Taylor, but the former Olympic champion who won five amateur world championships and six amateur European championships, got the decision on the night in New York.
Her promoter Eddie Hearn commented that a rematch fight is feasible and plans are again starting…from scratch.
“Taylor told me ‘If there is any doubt, we have to do it again. I answered that it was close and I had it tied, and she said’ so we have to do it again ‘,” Hearn commented.
