Former WBC world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-3-1) returns to the ring after almost two years of inactivity, explaining the reason that the rest has done him good.

Determined to return through the door and into to the hallway of triumph, the son of legendary boxing champion Julio Cesar Chavez says that he will surprise all the world, as he has come back with bold new intentions and committments, stating that he has taken care of his weight this time and is now fully focused on his workouts in the gym.

His motivation is that he wants to show that he still has a great deal to offer.

“It's not for money or fame," he assured. "I want to prove that I am a complete boxer. I owe it to myself and I owe it to the public… and also to my detractors.

“The plan is to fight twice this year and then look for the world title, if the WBC gives me the opportunity.”

Julio will fight in San Juan de Los Lagos, Jalisco, against Colombian Evert Bravo (25-10-1), a former IBO World title contender, on August 10.

Julio says he doesn’t know much about his rival Evert Bravo, who has 19 knockouts from his 25 victories, but he's preparing for any kind of fight.

The 32-year-old Mexican is a former WBC middleweight world champion, holding the green and gold belt between 2011-2012. Prior to that he had captured five minor WBC baubles which led to his world title shot at unbeaten champion Sebastian Zbik (30-0) in June 2011 winning via a close points decision.

His out of the ring antics saw him fined $900k by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for testing positive for marijuana after his first ever career loss to Sergio Martinez (49-2-2) in September 2012, which cost him the WBC belt. He then spiralled downwards, winning just four of his following six fights, which culminated in a one-sided beatdown at the hands of fellow countryman Saul Canelo Alvarez in May 2017 - all three judges at ringside scored the 12-round non-title contest 120-108.

Now JC Jr fights for the first time in 27 months in what will be his 56 contest, to be scheduled at super-middleweight.
