GBN brings the Estrada vs Chocolatito action live from Texas 

Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez and Juan Francisco Estrada headline a triple-header of world championship action on Saturday in what could be one of the fights of 2021 so far.

The duo face off in a super-flyweight unification bout, more than eight years after their first encounter at light-flyweight which was won by Chocolatito.

Juan Francisco Estrada vs Roman Gonzalez
12 x 3 mins WBC, WBA and Ring Magazine World Super-Flyweight titles

A zippy early start as both fighters looked to gain their own foothold in the opener, with a great deal of aggression and power shots coming from Estrada early on.

Some great exchanges in the second with Chocolatito starting to have his own joy in the fight in the second round.

Chocolatito continued to plug away at Estrada who maintained his distance and tried to stalk his way past the calculated advances of the Nicaraguan.

The fourth round really opened up with Estrada eating a few heavy shots, but landing some really good shots of his own as it became a real scrap on the ropes during points in the round.

 

Jessica McCaskill vs Cecilia Brækhus
10 x 2 mins Undisputed World Welterweight championship

McCaskill came quickly out of the blocks looking to close the distance early on, while Braekhus looked to keep the distance and land her jab. McCaskill landed a huge shot at the end of the round which appeared to trigger warning signs in the head of Braekhus in the opener.

Both fighters came out swinging once again in the second, with a frantic pace emerging as they looked to set out their stool. The early stages appeared to be contrasting to the first match-up with heavy shots firing in from McCaskill who landed flush again with an overarm right on Braekhus.

McCaskill looked on top as she continued to come out swinging and really attack Braekhus who looked like concerned with the pace and tempo that had been set from the opening bell.

The champion continued to throw the more aggressive combinations in the sixth, and remain busy as she looked to continue to blast Braekhus on to the back foot who was starting to also have more of her own success. 

Braekhus looked to extend her leading left out and keep the McCaskill pressure at bay in the seventh as she tried desperately to pursue her way back into the fight. McCaskill was deducted a point in the round for a shot below the belt on Braekhus which may have been a turning point on the scorecards for Braekhus who chased her advantage.

Jessica MCaskill retains her undisputed welterweight crown with a unanimous decision victory over Cecilia Braekhus. The scorecards were wide.

 

Souleymane Cissokho vs Daniel Echevarria
8 x 3 mins Super-Welterweight contest

The Frenchman showed his dominance early on with little resistance from his opponent in the opener in Texas.

Two slips occured between the second and third round from Echevarria who was clearly struggling to match the pace of his opponent.

An explosive straight right hand from Souleymane Cissokho as he looked to close the show in the fifth with a stoppage, but his opponent rose back to his feet. He then dropped once again after a clash od heads which sent him off balance again before the end of the fifth.

Another knockdown in the sixth for Cissokho who really started to up the tempo and chase the stoppage, but his opponent got back up ad refused to wilt once again. The referee then stepped in to prevent further punishment for Echevarria.

Souleymane Cissokho earns a TKO victory over Daniel Echevarria to remain undefeated.

 

Hiroto Kyoguchi vs Axel Vega
12 x 3 mins WBA and Ring Magazine World Light-Flyweight titles

The Japanese champion clearly started looking to keep the distance and land the jab neatly in the opener, with a significant height and reach advantage over Vega. Both fighters looked to hit hard into the body in the opening two rounds with Vega clearly keen to bring the fight into the centre of the ring and close quarters.

Vega looked imposing despite the height difference, having an extremely solid second and third round respectively using close combat to his advantage.

The fight was called by the referee as Vega appeared to be injured after a right hand was thrown by Vega.

Hiroto Kyoguchi takes the victory over Axel Vega as the Mexican is withdrawn due to injury in the fifth round.

 

Austin Williams vs Denis Douglin 
8 x 3 mins Middleweight contest

A competitive round in the opener with Williams happy to try and control the opening exchanges, against a clearly game opponent in Douglin in the opener.

Williams buckled Douglin in the second and third with a solid straight left late on in the round and neat body punching, clearly showing his raw power. The young talent had superb shot selection frequently, mixing the attack with whipping shots to the head and body. 

Despite getting caught by the resistant Douglin, Williams fired back in the fifth continuing to try and break down the Douglin resolve, who was starting to come forward and back Williams up in a tough contest for the young talent.

Douglin was rocked in the sixth and found himself clinging on desperately after an onslaught continued from the undefeated middleweight.

The onslaught grew in the seventh as Williams chased the stoppage, catching Douglin with two powerful shots followed by a barrage. But still Douglin stood up and continued to try and desperately exchange off the ropes.

Austin Williams takes the unanimous decision victory over resillient Denis Douglin at middleweight. Scorecards were at 79-73, 79,73, 77-75.

Raymond Ford vs Aaron Perez 
8 x 3 mins Featherweight contest

Ford came out rocking Perez early with a speedy combination, but the opener settled down nicely with Perez regaining himself and trying to find his rhythm in a fast first round. Perez came out with some of his own combinations taking Ford on to the ropes, landing another swift combination on the final bell signalling his early intent.

The second and third followed a similar pattern with Ford trying to land powerful single shots from distance, while Perez continued to throw big shots of his own and try to close the gap. However Ford looked relatively comfortable brushing off some power punches, and continued to try to find the target.

Some better shots from Ford in the fourth, who started to use his speed to counter punch neatly, and Perez started to back up and take a more reserved approach. 

A cut opened up for the favourite, who had started to make more traction in the fight and negate the aggressive swinging style of his opponent.

Ford landed some much neater shots in the seventh, with a straight left being his best punch of the night in a real test for the young American.
