Israel Vázquez bravely fights his toughest challenge 

Former WBC champion Israel Vázquez faces a chronic disease called systemic sclerosis, which is a degenerative disorder, that’s he been bravely combatting for a year.

“It is a chronic disease that I will have to live with for the rest of my life. There is no treatment to cure it, although it is now under control. As the disease affects the muscles, I cannot gain weight”, said the former champion.

“Fortunately, it is not a life-threatening disease. If I take care of myself and I am responsible, I can control the disease.

“The WBC took the lead in monitoring my path to recovery and treatment. They are taking care of the expenses and I thank you for their support in this difficult situation for me. The important thing is to continue fighting and never give up like we did in the ring.”
