"If Miller’s studied me he knows I am a warrior and I never give in. He’s been rallying a lot of bullshit but that doesn’t affect my psychology in any way. Opponents have come before and they have never stopped me in my tracks. I’m going to go in there and break him, I do my talking in the ring with my fists."
Fight Preview
American Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller (27-1-2, 22 KOs) faces Cuban Lenier "El Justiciero" Pero in a WBA heavyweight title eliminator tonight in Las Vegas.
Pero is a typical Cuban fighter with an outstanding amateur pedigree that saw him win Olympics and World Championships, as well as reach the Rio 2016 quarter-finals.
He turned pro in 2019 and won the WBA Fedelatin heavyweight title in his fourth fight, which he has defended three times to reach WBA #2.
He is very skilful, speedy southpaw. He has quick feet and hands, perhaps lacking in raw power, but his technical ability is very high.
Miller is the polar opposite to that. The 300lbs American is a brawler who opts to smother opponents in close with huge hooks and uppercuts, constantly looking for a knockout. He fights with his hands down, has slow feet, and is very hittable, but his durability gets him through. However, Daniel Dubois was able to hurt and stop Miller in the 10th and final round of their 2023 fight.
The New Yorker hasn't been achieving KOs as much ever since being caught doping and receiving a ban. His last three fights have all reached the final round.
