Fabiana Bytyqi retains WBC atomweight title in rematch with Elizabeth López Corzo

Fabulous Fabiana successfully defends WBC title

This Saturday in Sono, Brno, Czech Republic, WBC atomweight champion, Fabiana Bytyqi (20-0-0, 5KO), defeated Mexican Elizabeth López Corzo (10-6-5, 1KO) by unanimous decision in a rematch, with scores of 92-98 and 91-99 twice.

Both drew in July of last year, however, this time around the champion was appreciably better focused and dominated most of the fight. BoxRec have the pair ranked in 5th and 6th so the contest was evenly matched, but the champion boxed brilliantly on the night.

Lopez showed confidence, but although she tried to close the distance for a melee, Bytyqi’s jab kept her at arm’s length and at bay.

Czech Republic's Bytyqi took the victory thanks to her faster hands, measured approach and greater boxing intelligence, which helped her to dissipate the pressure presented by the tough Mexican.
