Erick Morales vs Marco Antonio Barrera 4

Erick Morales revealed in a telephone interview with the Mexican newspaper ESTO that he plans on putting on a benefit exhibition card in which he will again face ring rival Marco Antonio Barrera, and that former world champions such as Cristian Mijares and Fernando Montiel have also joined this venture.

Erick “El Terrible”, a former world champion in four different divisions, pointed out that this exhibition match is a way of giving back to boxing and helping those who most need it at this difficult time.

“I talked to Marco about all of this and how we can support the people and he said, ‘Let’s do four to support the people’, and I agreed. Then “Kochul” joined in (Fernando Montiel) and (Cristian Mijares). José Luis Castillo is willing to participate.”

Morales and Barrera fought  three times between 2000 and 2004 in an epic trilogy rated as one of the greatest ring rivalries of all-time. After 15 years later from their epic encounters, they will  meet again in the ring.

As for a possible date, September has been earmarked, but it all depends on retrictions at the time.

“We have to see the conditions in order to set the date. The important thing at the moment is to get out of this health problem. There are many interested places, but we will choose a large one to do what we are planning, trusting that it will be a great show for the fans and for a noble cause.”
