Eddie Hearn claims Dana White has received two cease-and-desist notices over Garcia-Benn negotiations

Dana White may have been sent legal notices from Golden Boy and DAZN

Eddie Hearn, lead promoter of Matchroom Boxing, has recently suggested that Dana White and co. have received legal notices from Golden Boy Promotions and DAZN.

In an interview with IFL TV, Hearn stated that, “Dana actually had two cease-and-desists, one from Golden Boy and Oscar De La Hoya, and one from DAZN”.

Allegedly, both legal notices demand that Zuffa Boxing stop engaging in the unlawful negotiations of a fight between WBC Welterweight Champion Ryan Garcia (25-0) and WBC #1 Conor Benn (25-1).

Golden Boy Promotions, owned by Oscar De La Hoya, have an exclusive promotional agreement with the Champion, who recently beat Mario Barrios to win the WBC title.

Conversely, Zuffa Boxing, owned by Dana White, has an exclusive promotional agreement with The Destroyer, whose last win came against Regis Prograis. However, the relatively new promotion is alleged to have begun negotiations for the fight without Golden Boy’s involvement.

As such, Hearn went on to argue, “The problem is with these guys, they have no regard. So unfortunately for Dana, if you want to make Conor Benn against Ryan Garcia, Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy are going to be a co-promoter, your co-promotional partner. So you better drop the ego and understand that when you’re doing the press conference, Oscar de la Hoya will be up there on the stage with you”.

Global sports broadcaster DAZN is the exclusive home of events promoted by Golden Boy. Hearn claims that DAZN has “an exclusive contract” with the newly crowned belt-holder, '"KingRy", which Zuffa Boxing have also failed to account for.

The promoter further explained, “I have fighters that are under exclusive contracts with DAZN, who have fought on Netflix, and it has been a very difficult conversation to have with my broadcast partner. But after some negotiation and some sensible conversation, we were able to find a solution where Katie Taylor boxed on Netflix twice.

“In a bigger scenario, Anthony Joshua, who’s under an exclusive broadcast deal with DAZN, fought Jake Paul on Netflix. There was a negotiation, everybody was happy, and we move forward.”

Zuffa Boxing has hosted seven events to date and has yet to co-promote any. In addition to this, White previously confessed to CBS Sports that, “I live in my own little bubble; I'm going to do my thing”.

However, White and co. will need to work with Golden Boy and DAZN if the Garcia-Benn fight is to be made, though it remains uncertain whether a deal will be reached.
