Dillian Whyte climbs off canvas to win WBC interim title

English fighter Dillian Whyte conquered the World Boxing Council interim heavyweight belt by defeating the previously unbeaten Colombian contender Oscar Rivas, at the main event in the O2 Arena in London, England, but not before a real scare!

Rivas surprised everyone by sending home fighter Whyte to the canvas in the ninth round with a crisp right uppercut.

Whyte admirably managed to survive the storm, on unsteady legs, to end the round and finish even stronger in the concluding rounds.

The judges scored 115-112, 115-112 and 116-111, all in favor of the British fighter.

Dillian Whyte, trained by Mark Tibbs, is the WBC #1 contender to Deontay Wilder's crown.
