Destructive Denzel Bentley drops Danny Dignum three times to win in round two

Bentley is back!

Denzel Bentley produced a destructive performance at a packed York Hall last night, May 11, to stop brave Danny Dignum in just two rounds.

It was a big body blow from a backhand right that downed Dignum with a minute to go in the second stanza. The Battersea boxer targeted the midriff again as Dignum tried to escape his fate, but Denz just stuck to his man to drop him yet again with another backhand to the body.

Then he was able to land a big right hand up top that snapped Dignum's head back and floored him heavily for the third and final time.

The brave boxer from Basildon returned to his feet a third time, bloodied by a cut above his left eye, but referee John Latham had seen enough and wouldn't allow the 32-year-old southpaw to continue.

29-year-old Bentley picked up the WBO International middleweight title, which will likely improve his No.6 world ranking to potentially force a rematch with Janibek Alimkhanuly.

Promoted by Queensberry, Londoner Bentley challenged hard-hitting Kazakh Alimkhanuly for his WBO World middleweight title in 2022 in Las Vegas. He followed Dignum's challenge six months later, who was stopped in two rounds.

Bentley's attempt was very competitive, ultimately losing by unanimous decision, but he is the only opponent from Janibek's last nine foes to last the distance with him.

A rematch would be welcomed by all.
