Dave Allen predicts Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley

Dave Allen envisions a first-half stoppage

Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KO’s) and Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KO’s) are set to go head-to-head on May 9, headlining a Queensberry Promotions card in Manchester. 

The bout will see Wardley make his first defence of the WBO title, after being upgraded to full champion status shortly after his triumph against Joseph Parker late last year. 

The Ipswich man stopped Parker in the eleventh round, putting his heart and desire on full display, as he fought through half an hour of hell, to eventually find the stoppage to end a ferocious heavyweight affair. 

Dubois, on the other hand, is fresh off a devastating defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, where he outworked and outsmarted – failing to beat the Ukrainian at the second time of asking. 

However, he still boasts a host of impressive victories over the likes of Anthony Joshua, Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic. 

Speaking on his YouTube channel, fellow Britishish heavyweight, Dave Allen, has revealed that he thinks Dubois’s skill and experience will give him the upper hand come May.

“There’s question marks over his [Dubois’] mentality; how he does under pressure. [But] I don’t think Wardley has the style to really befuddle him the way Usyk did.

“I think he has grown out of going down on one knee, like he did with [Joe] Joyce, so I favour Dubois.

“I don’t think [Wardley’s] been in with a puncher like Dubois yet. Dubois is just as big, just as strong [and] just as powerful [as Wardley], but I think he has the tools, and the boxing skill, and the speed to land the big one first.

“From a style point of view, Wardley for Daniel is a good match. I’m going to go [with] Dubois inside six [rounds].”
