Conor Benn will tonight look to move closer to a world title clash when he takes on Samuel Vargas in London.

‘The Destroyer’ - son of legendary former two-weight world champion Nigel Benn - defends his WBA Continental welterweight title at Wembley’s SSE Arena against Colombian-Canadian Vargas.

CONOR BENN v SAMUEL VARGAS 

The fighters are in the ring and ready for the clash at welterweight. Benn looking to make it 18-0 at welterweight.

Benn started well backing up well with a neat jab early on and landing some good sharp combinations early on. He clearly looked for intensity and fast hands in the opener with Vargas hardly throwing much back in his direction. 

Then Benn opened up incredibly, with some tremendous right hooks which sent his opponent sprawling into the ropes. The referee had no choice but to step in, with serious power and speed clearly a level above.

Conor Benn defeats Samuel Vargas via stoppage with just a minute gone in the first round to retain his WBA continental welterweight title.

SAVANNAH MARSHALL v MARIA LINDBERG

Marshall started well using her superior reach and boxing skillset to line up the jab early on and feel out her opponent in the opener. Her lead left hand looked to be a real weapon early on for the Hartlepool midleweight.

The tall middlweight knocked her opponent down in the second round with a superb right hand detonating flush onto the chin. After she returned to her feet, she inflicted some more damage working the body very neatly before the bell.

Marshall sent her sprawling to the canvas in the third once again and Lindberg could not make the count.

Savannah Marshall retains her WBO middleweight title with stoppage victory over Maria Lindberg in the third round.

SHANNON COURTENAY v EBANIE BRIDGES

A grudge match between the two fighters for the world title. It started off feiry between the two, with high stakes as both fighters threw leather early in the first round. Bridges looked good behind the jab but Courtenay seemed to be comfortable moving around it and landing some heavy shots off the ropes.

The fight turned very brawl-like in the second round, backing Courtenay up well despite her landing on the button counter shots. The Australian looked strong and rugged, trying to walk down her opponent who seemed slightly shocked by the early aggression and was cut heavily on the side of the head in the second.

The aggression continued early on in the third from Bridges who was trying her best to target the head of her opponent with powerful single shots. Courtenay caught her opponent early on, but the tenacious attitude was a real highlight in the round again from the Australian.

Courtenay's started to display her speed and technical ability against the powerful leather of her opponent in the fourth round. A good contest was beginning to develop between the two with nothing being held back in reserve approaching the middle rounds.

The fifth round really opened up between the two fighters with Bridges really rocked by a sturdy right hand flush on the chin. Courtenay really progressed in the round, keeping her opponent backed into a corner and really inflicting damage to the right eye of the Blonde Bomber.

A seventh round war really commenced as she walks through the shots of Courtenay to land some heavy shots of her own, barraging the British fighter with a flurry of uppercuts. Bridges eye had severe swelling around it, in addition to a cut lip as both fighters faced a real gruelling test in this world title scrap.

Courtenay looked to try and bring a distance between the two, using the jab to prevent her opponent from coming forward with the heavy shots.

She also had a superb ninth round landing some seriously powerful hooks in the corner, with Bridges desperately holding on complaining of being unable to see out of her eye.

ALEXANDER ESPINOZA v KASH FAROOQ

Espinoza and Farooq trading well in the opening exchanges in the first round, with both fighters looking to work the body early on. Espinoza tried early to keep the distance, with Farooq feinting to try and get in on the inside and draw him into close quarters.

Farooq continued to come forward in the second, in addition to using his sharp movement to try and avoid the work of Espinoza. But the Nicaraguan fighter began to find his range working the body well in spells as the fighters engaged well.

The fight continued at a good tempo in the third, but with Espinoza's constant persistence to the body he hit a low blow midway through the round. Farooq was doing a good job of putting some superb mixed combinations together to disrupt the flow of his opponent. Espinoza started to look slightly tired after taking some superb consistent shots from his opponent. Espinoza had a better fourth round, as he started to try and get on the offensive himself and appeared to scuffer the face of Farooq in the round.

The fifth and sixth round followed a similar pattern, with Espinoza's work rate remaining well but Farooq continuing to land the more purposeful shots and moving the better. Espinoza tried to switch stance again in the sixth to southpaw, to try and mix up the angles and begin to land some more scoring punches.

Farooq's superb skillset continued to prevail largely against a certainly game and competitive opponent. Despite his large success, he did appear to have a small cut above his eye but continued to plug away and fire his combinations.

With the latter stages tight with high work rates, Farooq started to catch Espinoza despite his efforts to try and do some damage to the Scottish fighter.

Farooq dominated the late stages, as he fired the better and cleaner shots despite the grit and determination of Espinoza.

Kash Farooq defeats Alexander Espinoza by unanimous decision to earn the WBC silver international bantamweight title. Scorecards were at 97-95 ,97-94, 97-93.

NICK CAMPBELL v PETR FROHLICH 

Nick Campbell defeated Petr Frohlich via second round stoppage in his heavyweight debut in the Matchroom stable after his switch from rugby to boxing.

The British fighter overhwelmed his opponent with a barrage of shots in the round after proving his power was a class above his opponent.
