Campbell Hatton hangs up his gloves and begins working elsewhere

The son of British boxing legend Ricky Hatton, Campbell, has decided to close the curtain on his four-year professional boxing career at the age of just 24.

Campbell "Hurricane" Hatton made his pro debut in Match 2021 and won his first four fights on points, guided by his uncle, Matthew Hatton.

In fights five and six, he scored back-to-back KOs, eventually reaching 14-0 when his first title shot appeared in March 2024.

He challenged for the Central Area super-lightweight title, a belt his father Ricky had won 24 years before him. Unfortunately for Hatton, he was defeated for the first time in his career via unanimous decision by the titleholder James Flint.

Undeterred and determined, Hatton requested the rematch, which took place seven months later in October 2024, but the result was returned the same - unanimous decision win to JJ Flint.

Ricky Hatton was the one to confirm the news, "Campbell won't be fighting again. As you know, he didn't have a lot of experience. He gave it a go in the amateurs and he went pro and gave it a go.

"He fought for the Area title and got beat. I thought he lost it, to be fair. But then he fought the same lad again straight away after. I thought he won the second one, but he didn't get the decision. They were both very, very close fights, but he lost a bit of his mojo and then he had a few thigs wrong.

"He lost one of his best friends, Justin, who passed away at 27 years of age. So he went through a bit of a hard time. When he was in the gym, he'd lost his mojo and his heart wasn't in it."

Ricky showed his son how proud he was of him, "I said, 'Listen son, you should be very proud of yourself, you've given it a go. But if you've lost your mojo, you need to get out of this game. You can't play at boxing. You can play at any other sport, but you can't play at boxing.'

"So I advised him and now he's doing solar panels. So he's gone into another job. He's a grafter, he's worked hard, he gave it a go, but it just wasn't for Campbell.
