BOXXER has today announced a new partnership with the Manchester Box Cup, a two-day amateur boxing tournament showcasing the future stars of the sport. The finals will be streamed live on Sky Sports on Sunday, May 25th.

Founded by David Pownall in 2022, the Manchester Box Cup is one of the fastest-growing amateur boxing tournaments in the UK - a top platform for future champions. Powered by Sky Sports Boxing & BOXXER, in association with Champion, this event will bring together the best emerging talent in a celebration of community, competition and the future of the sport.

Founded in Manchester in 2018 by the UK’s youngest licensed boxing promoter, Ben Shalom, BOXXER is one of the world’s leading boxing promotional companies and home to a world-class stable of fighters featuring world champions, Olympic medallists and unbeaten contenders.

BOXXER will be activating support at every level to supercharge this year’s Manchester Box Cup and elevate the event experience for competitors and attendees. BOXXER fighters including Callum Simpson, Frazer Clarke and Karriss Artingstall will attend the finals weekend to present awards and share their own experience of amateur boxing.

A digital media campaign ‘The Future Fights Here’ will promote the event and key competitors across BOXXER’s social media channels reaching more than 2m followers. In addition, BOXXER’s official apparel partner and global sportswear brand, Champion, will be providing product to participants.

Ben Shalom, BOXXER Founder & CEO, said: “As a proud Mancunian, it’s an honour for BOXXER to support the Manchester Box Cup. BOXXER’s journey began right here in Manchester, and we’ve never forgotten our roots. From day one, our mission has been to create opportunities and elevate the sport at every level, especially where it begins: at local amateur clubs.

“Manchester has always been the beating heart of British boxing, producing world champions, unforgettable nights, and some of the most passionate fan bases in the sport. The Manchester Box Cup will bring together the best emerging talent from amateur clubs across Manchester, the North West, the UK, and beyond for what promises to be an outstanding tournament and celebration of grassroots boxing, with the finals streamed live on Sky Sports.”

David Pownall, Manchester Box Cup Founder, said: “The Manchester Box Cup was created to enable amateur boxers to showcase their talents on a wider platform. The support from Sky Sports Boxing and BOXXER will create a game changing moment in grass roots boxing history.”

Frazer Clarke, Olympic Bronze Medallist & professional heavyweight boxer, said: “It’s great to see BOXXER and Sky Sports supporting the Manchester Box Cup and giving back to the grassroots of the sport. I know first-hand how important tournaments like these are, and I’m excited to be ringside, encouraging the next generation of boxers coming through. Events like this are where champions are made.”
