Boxing returns to Fenway Park for first time in 70 years

The legendary Fenway Park revives its boxing glory with “Fight Night at Fenway 2”

Although the iconic Fenway Park is world-famous as the legendary home of the Boston Red Sox baseball team, the historic Boston venue boasts a rich relationship with boxing.

It began more than a century ago. After hosting memorable cards during the 1920s, 1930s, and 1950s—and following a lengthy hiatus of nearly 70 years—the sweet science has made a powerful return to the park.

This coming June 6, America’s most beloved ballpark will transform into an absolute pressure cooker to host the highly anticipated “Fight Night at Fenway 2” card.

This historic event, sanctioned by the prestigious World Boxing Council, will bring together the brightest local stars and will be broadcast globally on DAZN, the world’s leading combat sports platform.

Excitement, thrills and anticipation have reached a fever pitch across the New England region.

In the night’s main event, the undefeated and talented Jahyae “The Golden Child” Brown will put his WBC USA Silver Welterweight Championship on the line against the dangerous and respected challenger Anthony “Vicious” Vieira.

It promises to be a tense battle where pride and the prestigious WBC Green and Gold Belt hang in the balance.

The fan response has been unprecedented: ringside floor seats and reserved seating are completely sold out, and general admission tickets are moving at a blistering pace through the MLB online platform, making a capacity crowd a certainty.

A Century of History on the Boston Diamond

The second edition of this event continues a grand tradition that saw the birth and consecration of true legends of the ring:

• The Golden Era (1930s): The stadium welcomed several of the greatest fighters in history. In 1930, James J. Braddock (whose life inspired the movie Cinderella Man) made his sole appearance on this stage, defeating Joe Monte. In 1932, Cuban stylist Kid Chocolate outpointed Steve Smith via decision; and in 1936, former heavyweight champion Jack Sharkey climbed off the canvas in the first round to defeat the young Phil Brubaker, securing his historic subsequent bout against Joe Louis.

• The Last 20th-Century Classic (June 16, 1956): Local idol and former world welterweight champion Tony DeMarco (the “Boston Bomber”) headlined the final card of the past century at Fenway before a massive crowd, defeating the talented Vince Martinez by unanimous decision after 10 fierce rounds
• The Modern Resurgence (2025): Following a 69-year absence, local promotional outfit Nolan Bros. Boxing revived boxing at the park’s Big Concourse on June 7, 2025. The 11-bout card was headlined by undefeated super middleweight Thomas O’Toole, who defeated Vaughn Alexander. That night also marked a historic milestone by featuring women’s boxing at the stadium for the very first time, highlighted by Alexis Bolduc’s victory over Sara Couillard.
