Ben Shalom believes his man will give Moses Itauma his toughest test

Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KO’s) is due to face Jermain Franklin on March 28. They were first due to clash on January 24, but following the 21-year-old suffering an injury in training camp, the bout has been pushed back.

The fight is touted to give Itauma his toughest test yet, with the Brit having breezed through his first 13 fights as a professional.

He last stepped into the ring in August, dismantling heavyweight veteran Dillian Whyte in under two minutes, marking a successful entrance into the upper echelons of heavyweight boxing.

Assuming Itauma continues his frightening form and gets the result against Franklin, he will be looking for his next test as the 21-year-old continues his journey to the top of the division.

BOXXER CEO, Ben Shalom, believes his promotion is home to the man who will give Itauma his toughest test to date.

Congolese behemoth Martin Bakole (21-2-1, 16 KO’s) was once considered a boogeyman within the heavyweight division, but following a string of lacklustre performances, including a second-round stoppage defeat to former world champion Joseph Parker.

However, speaking to Boxing News, Shalom revealed that the best of Bakole is still to be seen, as the 34-year-old looks to step back into the ring in the not-too-distant future.

“It’s been frustrating for us,” Shalom admitted.

“We fought Parker, Efe Ajagba, were offered [Filip] Hrgovic in August, had the opportunity to fight Moses… Again, Martin will take anything, [but] people around him have to accept the fights as well.

“I do believe he has the talent to be the best heavyweight in the world, but has he prepared in the way that he [should have done] for the last couple of fights? No.

“Hopefully we will have news on [Bakole] soon. I like the Moses fight. I think he can beat Moses. I think he can beat anyone on his day.”
