Big-time regional boxing is back in Australia as two of the country’s brightest super-welterweight talents are set to face off on the main event for the Ace Boxing Group promotion.

Both contestants for the vacant WBC Australasia championship made weight for the event to be staged in Brisbane, Australia, tomorrow, May 15.

Joel Camilleri (19-5-1, 8KOs) weighed in at 69.15 kg and Luke Woods (6-3, 2KOs) hit the scales at 69.60 kg. Both protagonists are pictured with WBC supervisor,  Patrick Cusick.

Joel James Camilleri, known as 'Cama KO', is a former Australian super-welterweight champion. He lost his national title to the brilliant Tim Tszyu (sone of legendary Kostya Tszyu) in his first defence, but has since rebuilt with back to back wins, both UD points victories.

Woods is a 28-year-old southpaw from Tasmania, who calls himself 'Fast and Cocky'! He has challenged for the IBO Asia Pacific welterweight title in his seventh fight but failed to triumph, but in his next contest, claimed the IBO Oceania-Orient super-welterweight title against unbeaten Koen Mazoudier. He lost his last contest to undefeated Andrew Hunt so comes into this third title tilt off the back of a TKO loss.

The 154-pounders clash at the Mansfield Tavern in Queensland on May 15, with unbeaten heavyweight Demsey McKean also in action on the bill as he attempts to take his record to 19-0 against New Zealander Kiki Toa Leutele.
