Artur Beterbiev injury scuppers June 1st showdown with Dmitry Bivol
The highly anticipated undisputed light heavyweight world title showdown between WBC/IBF/WBO champion Artur Beterbiev and WBA ruler Dmitry Bivol — scheduled for Saturday, June 1 at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — has been postponed after Beterbiev suffered a ruptured meniscus in training.
The plan is to reschedule Beterbiev-Bivol before the end of the year, and additional details will be provided in due course.
However, there is a silver lining to the cloud as the show will still go ahead. The historic, grounbreaking event features the highly-anticipated 5 vs 5 showdown between Matchroom and Queensberry.
British promoters Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn have pitted five of their talents against each other to make a quintet of 50-50 fights, such as Daniel Dubois vs Filip Hrgovic and Deontay Wilder vs Zhilei Zhang.
Also on the card is exciting unbeaten Brit Nick Ball against American Raymond Ford, also Willy Hutchinson vs Craig Richards and Hamzah Sheeraz vs Austin Williams.
